About the event

Summer camp in Sussex

Happy Me Dance is running a musical theatre camp in Forest Row during the summer holidays! If your kids love music, dance and musical theatre, we would love to welcome them in August 2024. Everyone is welcome between the ages of 5-14 years old, so come and learn from the professionals while having fun!

What will the summer school involve?

Our four-day musical theatre summer School will be taking place within the beautiful setting of Michael Hall Steiner School in Forest Row in Sussex.

It is open to all children aged 5-14 years and will involve four fun-packed days learning musical theatre and creative choreography and having fun with like-minded friends. Days 1-3 run from 9-3pm with a lunch break from 12-1pm. The final day will involve a performance in the school’s theatre and will run from 9-6pm, with parents and carers invited to watch the final performance.

Who is running the summer camp?

Michelle Clark from Happy Me Dance is running the camp. Michelle was Assistant Director of Dance at The BRIT School and has taught the likes of Leona Lewis, Teneisha Bonner (ZooNation), and Leon Petit (choreographer for Little Mix and The X Factor). The Happy Me Dance team will also be welcoming guest choreographer and director Damien Delaney, and be hosting a final performance at the end of the week!

About Damien Delaney Damien trained at London Studio Centre and has had a very successful performing career as a dancer in musical theatre for over 15 years. Highlights include performances in Billy Elliot, Tonight's the Night, Cats and Singing in the Rain. He has had the opportunity to work with some of the UK's leading choreographers in Musical Theatre, including Stephen Mear, Gillian Lynne, Peter Darling, Dame Arlene Phillips, Craig Revel-Horwood, Nikki Woollaston, Ellen Kane and Lee Proud.

Damien has spent the last 14 years as Senior Lecturer and Head of Dance on the Musical Theatre Triple Threat programme at the University of Chichester Conservatoire. Damien has led our Inspire Musical Theatre Workshops throughout 2023 and 2024 and we are delighted to have Damien as guest choreographer for our Happy Me Dance Summer School in 2024!
