Happy Me Dance
What we offer
Our Nurture classes are our weekly dance classes, whereas our Inspire opportunities give children and teens the chance to work with some of the UK’s best dance talent. This could be via classes, workshops or performances and is an optional add-on to our weekly classes, as well as being available to anyone who would like to join in!
We are also available for school classes and bespoke Project Wave classes that specialise in teaching community groups or individuals with learning difficulties. If you’d like to know more, please get in touch.
Nurture Classes
Our NURTURE classes are our weekly sessions and the core of our work. Children learn how to work as a team, celebrate their individuality and build performance, creative and technical skills. They learn how to move with correct posture, alignment, strength and control and develop flexibility and the ability to turn and jump effectively. Throughout each term, they explore a range of genres including an eclectic mix of jazz, contemporary, classical, musical theatre and contact improvisation. They explore the fundamentals of performance, too, including dynamics, focus, expression and characterisation through their work. What’s more, they learn in a fun and relaxed setting and do it for the joy of dance.
Inspire Opportunities
Our INSPIRE opportunities are in the form of classes, workshops and performance opportunities. Children choose to opt into Guest Choreographer workshops and our performance companies. This includes our Junior and Senior Dance company for children who express interest in the opportunity to perform with professional dance companies. Recent projects have included our Senior company performing at Trinity Laban Conservatoire for Music and Dance, London in a curtain raiser for Emergence, the postgraduate dance company of the University of Salford with Artistic Director Joss Arnott and our Junior company performing at The Hawth Theatre, Crawley in a curtain raiser for TIN MAN by Joss Arnott Dance.
Project Wave
Project Wave offers bespoke sessions designed for all age groups to help people reconnect and re-find their ‘rhythm of life’ through dance delivery and participation. There is a strong connection with emotional wellbeing. We have created classes for those with learning disabilities, elderly groups and community groups, and are happy to chat with you about how we can help.
School classes
We offer both in-class and after-school dance classes for primary and secondary school children. We can also assist with performance preparation for productions, fetes and assemblies, as well as being a keynote speaker for teacher INSET days on the topic of wellbeing in schools.
