Michelle

Director and founder

Michelle Clark, is an Educator, Consultant, Practitioner and Creative Director. She is a ‘passionista for dance’ and an ‘advocate for transformational dance.’ 

 

Michelle has had articles published in local press and is an expert called upon by BBC Radio Kent.

Nick​

DJ and co-founder

Nick is co-founder of Happy Me Dance and you'll often find him DJ-ing during our dance classes. By day, he is an editor for a leading publishing company and co-founder of Shhhh Silent Disco in Royal Tunbridge Wells. Nick’s passion is music and he can regularly be seen on the decks for the Forum's '80’s nights in Tunbridge Wells.

Joe

Dance teacher

Joe trained at The BRIT School and LIPA. He has performed with Boy Blue Entertainment and with Flawless and is an avid musician as well as dancer. We are delighted to have Joe join our Tunbridge Wells teaching team.

Neil

Director

By day, Neil leads a creative team for an entertainments company in Shoreditch. By night, he is John Travolta! Neil assists with AV/tech and creating the artwork for Happy Me Dance. Neil loves to run and his passion for fitness brings energy and verve to Happy Me Dance.

More about Michelle

In June 2022, Michelle graduated as Movement in Practice Facilitator following her study with Dance and Science guru Dr Peter Lovatt -author of The Dance Cure, co- founder of the Move Assure wellbeing app with Dame Darcey Bussell. Her initiative, Project Wave- The Awakening sessions is a programme adopted by Team Domenica and local community support services to encourage connectivity and get all age groups moving following the Covid 19 pandemic.

 

Michelle was Assistant Director at The BRIT School (1995-2001) and Director of Dance (2001-2018) at one of the UK’s top co-ed boarding schools according to The Sunday Times’ Parent Power 2019/2020. 

 

She founded the Dancecenter, Brighton which from 2002-2010 was the first commercial dance studios for dance in Brighton. 

 

Michelle trained at Middlesex University and Memphis State University gaining a BA Hons Degree in Performing Arts. She was taught Release, Alexander, Graham, Cunningham, Limon and Classical Ballet Technique and was directed by teachers and choreographers from Rambert Dance Company, The Royal Ballet and London Contemporary Dance Theatre. These included Mark Baldwin, Katherine Price, Christopher Bannerman, Sally Estep- Bhuller, Siobhan Davies and Ian Spink.

Michelle holds full membership with the Imperial Society of Teachers of Dancing. From 1998 - 2002, She studied at The Centre PAC and was coached by ISTD trustee Karen King to achieve her Associates, Associate Diploma and CDE in ISTD Modern Theatre and Tap.
